Apologies …

Saturday, February 18th, 2006

Just a quick note to let you all know that my young son has been home quite ill (he’s recovering now though) and I have been taking care of him and getting COMPLETELY overwhelmed with getting behind in work. So I’m sorry that I haven’t posted in a while but promise to do so soon. Among the many ideas floating around in my head for an article is a writeup on my own custom photo gallery that I just put together and used in this portfolio site.

Holy Moly! My Holy Grail Example Cited On A List Apart!

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

So, I’m looking in my site statistics this morning, glancing at the trends for January. I’m inching upwards slowly in terms of readersip. My average went from 300-350 hits per day at the beginng of the month, to about 350-450 hits a day towards the end of the month. But, what’s this number here at the end of the month? Is that … one thousand six hundred unique visitory just yesterday? What the … ?

Excitedly, I look to my referrer log to see what could have prompted this huge jump in traffic and I see that, second only to the CSS Zen Garden, most of my visitors are coming from a new article on A List Apart. I quickly scan my brain … did I leave a comment on ALA that was possibly so enticing that readers were drawn to my site in throngs? No. I did not. So that must mean that I was cited in the article itself.

I go to the article and do a search for Mani – nothing. I do a search for Sheriar – still nothing. I start hovering over every link looking for my url and I quickly find it, just two links in. The author is referring to my little old 3-column Holy Grail example, and he’s calling it a good template! Granted, he points out that source order is sacrificed, but so what!? I’m cited in A List Apart! Whoooo hoooo!!!!

Holiday Slump is Upon Me … Let’s Cut Loose!!

Friday, December 16th, 2005

So, like many of you, I’m having a real hard time working during this here month of December. In fact, I’m having a hard time doing anything productive! Seems like all I want to do is spend money and have fun and relax … and do nothing to afford this lavish lifestyle! Unfortunately, this laziness has also extended to this blog. Sorry about that.

So … since I am not my usual code-loving self and for the first time in a long time just haven’t felt like dissecting xhtml and css, I thought this might be a good opportunity to have some fun. Let me get a few things off of my chest, and then I’m going to ask for your help.

Lights Out … Finally!!!

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

Ok, this so this is kinda off topic but … If you’re at all like me you may have several various electronic goodies in your bedroom. I have an answering machine, a wireless router, a modem, a laptop, a cellphone charger, a vonage thingy, a video game console, and an Altec Lansing iM3. Sheesh! And all of these electronic goodies have little glowing lights which have been driving me slowly mad.

I am proud to announce that I have at last joined the ranks of the bloggers!

Now, with this tool in hand, my plan will be to post amazing insights into css, xhtml, and design … eventually being recognized by zines the likes of A List Apart and thereby becoming a published author, slowly ascending the ranks of the web standards elite like, well, you know who they are! Then, I will use my newfound celebrity to amass an enormous fortune, eventually taking over the world. Mwa haa haaa haaa!!!!
