CSS Face Lift
The other day I was charged with implementing the realign of Energy Muse, a site I had coded last year. Energy Muse had redone their logo, and therefore wanted a site-wide facelift that would reflect their altered branding.
This was the first time that I had been involved in the realign of one of my own sites. Not to toot my own horn but I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW EASY IT WAS! Seriously, I was amazed to see a real-life zen garden type switcharoo. I did not touch the html. Not even a little bit. Uploading a few new images and an updated CSS sheet was all that was required to transform this:
Into this:

The Proof Is In The Process
What was so wonderful about this experience is that I got to proove, to myself, to my partner on the project (Hong Vo of Namaste Interactive), and to our clients at Energy Muse, that the things I’ve been saying about the benefits of designing with standards are not simply idealistic and lofty hopes, but are in fact true.
I can’t even imagine what a different scenario this realign would have been if I had needed to alter the layout tables and inline images on every page of the site (about 60 of them). I saw how truly worth it it is to invest in higher quality code up front. And, I got to appreciate my own work, which is always a nice thing. ;o)

Hi Mani, my fisrt post into your domain, love your work, and how easy you make it happen, another good job, as with the slashdot design.
The zen garden was where I first saw your work, and that blew me away, that was also when I first heard of wordpress, I’m still going crazy trying to create my own theme, so if your ever lacking inspiration for blog posts, maybe you could share some tips on the whole php interaction thingy.
I’m sure I’ll eventually get there, tis a time thing. Anyhow, in the meantime may you flourish and prosper.
See ya
