FixTunes (Totally Off-Topic)

My wonderful hubby just got me an 80gig Video iPod as an out-of-the-blue gift (what a sweetie)!

I love my music. I have a fairly big collection and I’m always on the scout for more (hop over and say hello on LastFm). My new lovely iPod has the ability to show album art but … I don’t have any album art!

After some research I discovered that album art is only imported when you purchase music on iTunes, not when you rip hundreds of CDs you’ve already purchased. What to do!? No worries – I just discovered FixTunes, which will scan your music files and download the correct artist, album, title, track numbers, release year, genre and even album cover art!

You can download it for free and try it out on 50 songs of your choice. If you want to purchase it and start fixing your entire library it’s only $25 or so, and let me tell you that it’s SO WORTH IT! You guys have probably figured this out about me already, but I can be pretty anal about organization. This little application is a dream-come-true.

Enjoy!! (And, no, I’m not getting paid by FixTunes … I just think they rock!!!)

Actually, if your using iTunes 7, goto the advanced menu and click Get Album Artwork. It will search your library and download all the artwork that it can find automatically!

  • Sheriar Designs Says:

Yeah, I tried that, but it didn’t return anything except what I had recently purchased on iTunes. I ran it a few times. ?

I hope your video iPod was not one of these:

Luckily, it doesn’t seem to have the windows virus on it. =)

Hi, I had just the opposite with Fix Tunes, I paid for it & entered the Pay Code, but it just keeps on closing. I’m running XP Pro 2002 with SP2, any ideas ?
I think from the demo that FixTunes would be good, because their database had a lot of Art on it that I Tunes didn’t.

I, too, have had problems with Fixtunes. It was running great. Best cash value I had experienced in a long time. Then it began to fail and I cannot get it to run for more than a few minutes before it Dr Watsons. With limited reinstalls – I’m done. Their customer service has not responded. What a loss…

  • David Green Says:

I had the same exact problem. Was working and looking good then I entered the purchase code and now it won’t even start.
Their customer service is not getting back to me and their website forums don’t seem to be working either.

It looked great!…….and now they took me for
    $25.

Please let me know if anybody locates a fix.
    I’m running XP SP2 with IE7.

The free trial sure looked good……..
    I’m bummming

  • Simon Says:

I first tried the trial version which was a little buggy, but there are plenty of good features. I recently found that you can get the full version if you have an email ending in .edu and sign up at CollegeRuled:

Fix it tunes is a haux. I purchased it because they said they were with yahoo and other companies. That was not true. Yahoo does not recognize the company nor do they have a trusted license. This pops up instantly before you download it. You can’t even contact these people for a refund. Don’t waste your money. It’s a complete scam.

  • Terry Alben Says:

I also run the trial Ok and then it crashed upon starting when I purchased the full version. I contacted the support desk by e-mail and they tell me that’s it’s an issue with XP with IE7 installed. They are supposed to be bringing a mod out this week that can be downloaded from the site. Will have to wait and see.

does anybody have any recommendations for other tag editors/MP3 organizers that work with iTunes as well? I was looking into purchasing FixTunes, but now I’m not so sure?

  • casey Says:

For another program, I’d give MediaMonkey a try. It’s free and more powerful than Fixtunes, and it also uses Amazon to look up info. The downside is it’s a little trickier to use – Fixtunes does have a nice interface.

I don’t use iTunes but it seems to have several options for working with other mp3 management programs.

  • Megg Says:

I too am having a problem with the paid verison of Fixtunes. The trail worked great and after I paid for the full veriosn I get nothing but crashing. I have uninstalled and reintalled for the program to tell me I have two installs left. My gosh I have never even had a chance to use it. They need to fix it or give us our money back..

Trial version is amazing. Very handy tool. I haven’t paid yet. There are so many people blogging negative comments (multiple blogs) that it seems paying the $25 would be a roll of the dice.

Has this program worked for anybody? Did this fix work for anybody? It seems that people find solutions then tend to disappear.

I think the first thing to do would be to post all the reg codes that didn’t work, … and let people test them, … report back.

    Regards,

  • Robert Nesta Says:

THE PROGRAM WORKS FINE … I just bought the Reg Code … I don’t run IE7 and thus have had no hiccups with FixTunes … and if you do run IE7 the patch is found on the help page of the company website … FixTunes works wonders, and I’m very very happy to have spent the $25.

This program is a dream. I have others. This one works, is fast, and shit stupid simple. The developer fully deserves the $25.

    Regards,

    25 Well Spent.

  • Stephen Says:

    I installed, no problems….program kicks ass….

Have had absolutely no problems at all for full paid version….twenty five dollars well spent……

  • esstizzle Says:

can the people who are happy and have fixtunes working let us know what OS your running? or any other helpful information?
    thanks
ps… is the reg code just a serial? or a server /response activation?

    People Hi,

If you are comfortable with commercial software I would like recommend my product:

    http://www.tagtuner.com

The FixTunes fans are welcome to the following experiment:
    1. Clear all of tags.
    2. Rename the files and folder to have no album\artist information at all.
    3. Try to recognize this.

PS. No future comments will replied. If you have to say please contact me via the feedback form on my site.

    Thanks.

  • SpringHur Says:

Hey guys….Fixtunes sucks! It completely destroyed my music collection. For example I had a CD of 2Pac all together in one folder and it separated all the songs out to different files. It did that with almost every CD I had in my hard drive. So what was at least once surfable and able to find the song I want is now all over the place and I can’t find it. Also you can’t go back and undo a “fix” that it does. At lastly, when you pull up fixtunes program and search out albums you can click on the album and it will show the songs in the album. When you click on the song…it won’t play it. It just tries to connect to the net to give you info about the song! I at least thought that the fixtunes album viewer would allow me to pull up songs and play them from there, which wouldn’t be so bad even though “My Music” folder is destroyed but you can’t even do that. Thanks for nothing fixtunes! You guys suck! Don’t buy this program!

  • Beth Taralott Says:

The CollegeRuled thing is a fraud. You have to get 5 people to actually sign up to get the free FixTunes. They don’t tell you that until AFTER you sign up. The offer on the home page is purposely misleading. Also, signing up with CollegeRuled will get you bombarded with SPAM.

  • josh robins Says:

  • Jen Says:

Lmao@ josh Robins, you ARE awesome! After reading all the negative reviews on here, I did not want to PAY for fixtunes although I liked the trial version, not to mention risk messing up my 2300+ song music collection when I don’t have it backed up anywhere, so I tried doing exactly what Josh Robins obove me did, type in 1234567890….totally not expecting it to work, but it did! and now I just got 25$ software for free lol.
