I must admit I would have handed over this project to a Flash guru, substituting just one size of thumbnails as image links for those of us who turn off Flash. Nice! You could probably simulate the bubble by having interim images that appear when a hover is triggered on the element next to it, or by integrating the "bubble" images into one larger rollover image. I'm not familiar with Macs much, so I don't know about the fade, but something tells me that could be at least partially duplicated too given time and more images. Those options would of course lose the animated look. Sweet!
