Sarah - I started out by advertising in Craigslist. I created a resume post that mimicked my website, so that when folks clicked on any link in the Craigslist add it would actually take them to the appropriate page on my site. I posted in four cities at a time - my home city and three others (since four is the max resumes you can have posted) - every week. I also looked in the "gigs" section of Craigslist. That's how I got started.

(Craigslist also landed me my husband ... so I have a lot of love for it.) ;~)

mani ... it's awesome you've found a great client to work with. i'd rather have 2 great clients than 10 not-so-great ones.

btw, how did you get your first paying client? did you have to do a lot of advertising? i'm a student designer and am thinking of volunteering my skills to create websites for a few non-profit organizations to build up my portfolio. would love your insights!

Sounds like you got ahold of a good one. I imagine a lot of it has to do with Andrej also being a developer, like you said.

Is it already "3.0" time? I was wondering how long it would take before people started bandying the term Web 3.0 around ;-)
